Perseid meteor shower

Did anyone see the meteor shower last night? It was supposed to be the best night for the annual visit of the Perseids. Named for the constellation Perseus and the spot where they appear to originate in the sky, they grace us once a year as the earth passes through a trail of dust and ice particles spewed out in the wake of the comet Swift-Tuttle. We looked but didn't see a single one. We got up around 4:30 AM which was supposed to be the best time but the moon was too bright and probably drowned them out. But then, afterall, we do live in Los Angeles. What did we expect?

Here's a little backgound info if anyone's interested.
